Played through these two recently and completed them 100% for the first time. I’d say they have both aged pretty well, as they are still a blast to play over 10 years after their debut on the N64. Although Tooie added lots of new cool stuff, I still think the original is superior. The level design is waaay better. I love how you can enter a newly opened level and collect everything in one go, whereas in Tooie you will have to come back later after obtaining new moves. And although they added warp points all over the levels in Tooie, I still find them much more confusing than in the first game. Glitter Gulch Mine is a good example of this. There are tunnel entrances all over the place and they all look the same. The final thing about the levels I don’t like is that they are all connected in some way. It makes it really hard to collect all jiggies, when it says that you’re missing one jiggie in one level, but you have to get it by entering some other level and finding a secret path into the level with the missing jiggie. Screw that! The final thing I don’t like so much in Tooie is that there are way too many mini-games related jiggies. I want to get my jiggies by platforming, not through some annoying mini game!
Although some flaws, Tooie is still a great game and I suggest you play both of them if you haven’t already. Either grab som copy on ebay and fire up you 64bit Nintendo or get it on Xbox Live. I still haven’t tried Nuts & Bolt yet, but considering Rare’s suckage after getting purchased by M$, I’m not so sure if I want.

This Easter I was supposed to do a whole lot of school work, but due to various circumstances I ended up doing nothing at all. What I did however was some SNES gaming. I actually managed to beat as much as four SNES games during the hollidays, including the pictured Soul Blader (Soul Blazer in US and Europe). And as if that wasn’t enough I also managed beat Final Fantasy II (the real II, not the US IV) and complete Super Mario Galaxy and Banjo Kazooie. I guess I ended up getting a lot of “work” done after all…

Got this a few days ago. Now I can finally play some good old N64 again. I haven’t been able to play for a while do to broken stick on all my controllers. Now that I’m back in action I’ll start replaying some of my games. First one up is a completion run on Banjo Kazooie, a game I haven’t played in ages, but have wanted to play a lot lately.

Maybe I’ll upgrade my DS Lite to a DSi after all.
Also, Dragon Quest X coming to the Wii.
